We have to say, we love autumn here at Food Connections. The beautiful change in the leaves, wrapping up in chunky knits, and hibernating under a blanket with a cup of hot tea and our favourite snacks is our idea of perfection.
And this week we were particularly lucky as we got to celebrate two amazing autumnal events – Halloween and Bonfire Night!
On Tuesday, the team got down to dipping apples into vats of delicious melted chocolate, icing, chocolate sprinkles and chocolate chips. There were even a few fondant cobwebs, spiders and gruesome trickles of blood for an added frightening Halloween-themed finishing touch. (We have to admit there was a bit of a theme when it came to flavours. But when it’s a team of self-confessed chocoholics, what else can you expect?!)
This activity also turned out to be a great practice run for creating traditional yummy treats for the upcoming Bonfire Night celebrations this weekend. So we think this could be the start a new tradition – perhaps the official Food Connections candy apple week!
